"Long story. And, very rich. I was in Thonon meeting my poet friend Valentin and his father over the past week, near to the wonderful lake. With Valentin we had the intention to do some music (it’s not the first time), and I proposed to make some exercise on the basis of Aleister Crowley’s texts, since he is interested (it’s a Crowley’s boom lately), and I am going to have a concert with Lärmschutz (Rutger van Driel + Stef Brans) in Austria, on the 10th of August. Next, exactly with Crowley's texts, in the frame of the NOUMEN ART EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC FEST 2022. To our surprise we released a full album... Four beautiful tracks. And, I even play synth live to accompany Valentin’s voice on track 3.

I asked Nicholus Parrott (founder of Completely Gone Recordings) if he would like to release it, and yesterday I sent him the files. He told me that he accepts, and fortunately during the night he also sends me a sincere message to comment, which gives me the way to explain my position on Crowley. Here is our conversation.

AEP:
"Have you practiced magick before?"

Nicholus:
"I've tried it in my early 20's. Bought all kinds of books on the subject, philosophies and rituals. The idea of personal magick is interesting to me. I've read that Crowley had a room for white magick and another room for black magick. Personally, I avoid casting spells. If I begin to think about things like that, I will lose my mind.

Instead, I try to focus on things like kindness, calm, consideration towards others (including animals), creative education, real love and empathy. Keeps my mind balanced. I still believe we have mental / spiritual abilities that we have yet to prove, via science."

AEP:
"Oh dear, I hate spells. I'm for purity and development of the psyche (which, in my opinion, is almost infinite). Magick exists. What I appreciate in Crowley (he is perfectly white and black, it's true, because he doesn't make the distinction between good and evil - "deliver me from good and evil"- ) is the introduction he makes, stating the necessity of consciousness and the responsibility of the magician-priest. If you create shit, you pay for it. So, this is to state my position. I’ll go into this theme with the RESPONSIBILITY which is due."

AEP:
"Iann, Je suis une intellectuelle, et même trop académique pour mon metier d’artiste, donc rigoureuse, la fréquence avec la quelle Crowley est mentionné en générale depuis des années, la croissance du phénomène et le fait qu’il remplit de stupeur les jeunes amants du diable, m’a convaincue d’intervenir avec un travail sur lui, car il est à mon avis mal lu, ou pas lu du tout (lui qui a tant écrit)

En plus son écriture me semble poétique et même que je ne suis pas une experte de son travail, j’y trouve de l’inspiration
L’hymne à pan par exemple, qui renvoie la pratique magique à suivre la nature, porte le principes qui ont été des alchimistes, son Love under will est un concept décent, l’égalité de Bien et Mal est comprise dans la notion de Dieu"
